Sofar Sounds London

Track Dogs

Sofar Sounds is a new concept to me. I am used to people throwing house shows that tend to be a blend of a party, a concert, and a total mess, but I found the set up to be really interesting. Sofar Sounds is run internationally by volunteers who want to create a space where music is the focus. Concerts and gigs can definitely be a bit busy, so I can appreciate the concept of stripping it back and really having the chance to enjoy it. There were three bands that played, all with very different styles. A nice variety of genres in a welcoming and friendly environment in a major city. It was a unique experience and one I look forward to enjoying again.

I am a firm believer in these type of music communities. They are great for artists and listeners alike. The environment proved to be somewhat different though. As it took place in the living room of a flat with between 60 and 80 perfect strangers, there was an interesting sense of community. The vibe allowed for a lot of small talk between strangers, which is a somewhat rare occurrence at concerts, unless there is a bar and people are feeling more chatty.

It was a wonderful evening filled with diverse music and a sense of belonging. All in all it was wonderful and 10/10 would recommend. Tickets sell out quickly and the location and performers are a secret. At the end of the post is a button to the upcoming Sofar Sounds London gigs.
