Pop Punk

Lately, I have gotten back in the habit of listening to a lot of Pop Punk music that I enjoyed years earlier. It's really been kind of odd why I am drawn to a genre of music that doesn't seem to have all that many female fans probably due to a lot of pop punk music featuring angsty male singers who often times are angry at a ex-girlfriend.

It wasn't until yesterday the I realized why I have and always will love pop punk music. Friendship.

The value put on friends in pop punk is what makes the shows so much more of a community. I can honestly say I have never felt more like I was surrounded by people like myself than at The Wonder Years gig. Growing up you meet a lot of people that will leave or just generally not be a good friend, but everyone's on their own journeys. It's the people who are always there for you even if it's to sit around and eat pizza with (yeah, bit cliche of me). Those friendships are along strengthened by the friends that let you down. You appreciate the ones that stick by you so much more. That's why I will always love pop punk because it's a community and it's about fighting through barriers with support. It also enforces why you need to be there for the people you care about.

The reason pop punk music has such a close following is because it acknowledges that we are all fighting our own battles, but that shouldn't stop you from backing up someone else. Reciprocity is so very alive in pop punk.

And now I leave you with some videos while I go google pop punk shows in London ASAP.

And I could carry on for quite some time, but I won't. :P
